Sunday, Nov. 4

- Joseph Francis Cannon, 21, of 917 Greenwood Road was arrested for driving while intoxicated at 1:55 a.m., reports state. Police pulled Cannon over for a stop sign violation at Country Club Rd., reports state.

Reports state that Cannon blew a .16 on a breath-alcohol test. Cannon was released on a $400 unsecured bond.

- Reports state that a radar detector was stolen from a car parked on the second level of the Cardinal Parking Deck at 4:53 p.m. The passenger side window was broken out, reports state. Damage to the window is estimated at $250.

- Reports state that $1,000 in cash was stolen from a purse that was hidden in a filing cabinet in an office in the basement of the Student Union at 5:00 p.m. The office's wooden door was locked and pried open, reports state.

Saturday, Nov. 3

- Reports state that a laptop was stolen from UNC Hospitals Old Clinic at 7:32 a.m. The stolen laptop is valued at $1,200, reports state.

Friday, Nov. 2

- Attempted theft of four textbooks from Student Stores was reported at 1:46 p.m. Reports state that after being confronted by a store employee, the suspect left the textbooks and fled the area.

- Attempted larceny by trickery at Van Hecke-Wetlach Hall at the School of Law was reported at 2:12 p.m. The school received two fraudulent invoices from the Carolina Inn and the Siena Hotel, reports state. Both invoices used the name of a deceased law professor.

Saturday, Nov. 3

- Chapel Hill police responded to a larceny call at 12:16 p.m. at 1724 U.S. 15-501. Reports state that an unknown subject stole prescription drugs from the CVS pharmacy. The drugs were last known to be secure Friday at 4 p.m., reports state.

The case is under further investigation.

- Chapel Hill police responded to a breaking and entering call at 11:08 p.m. at 500 Weaver Dairy Road. Reports state that an unknown subject entered a vehicle forcibly and stole various items. The total value of the stolen goods was $1,260, reports state.

The case is closed with all leads exhausted.

- Chapel Hill police responded to a call of armed robbery at 2:36 a.m. at 100 W. Rosemary Street. Reports state that an unknown subject displayed a pocket knife and demanded cash from the victim. The subject stole $10 in cash, reports state. The case is under further investigation.

- Carrboro police responded to a breaking and entering call at 9:20 a.m. at the Ramsgate Apartments at 200 N.C. 54. Reports state that an unknown subject pried open the driver's side window of the vehicle and removed stereo equipment from the trunk.

Reports also state that the subject stole two 12-inch speakers valued at $325 and four stereo amplifiers valued at $1,200. Officers removed eight latent prints from the vehicle, and the case is under further investigation, reports state.

- Carrboro police arrested Johnathan McMillian, 24, of 502 Guthrie Road in Durham, for concealing a weapon by a felon.

Reports state that officers stopped a vehicle on Jones Ferry Road and discovered that the passenger, McMillian, had outstanding warrants. Police later found a .32 caliber gun under the side passenger seat that belonged to McMillian, reports state.

Officers charged McMillian with one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon, reports state.

McMillian was confined to the Orange County Jail on a $500 secured bond and was scheduled to appear Monday in Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Friday, Nov. 2

- Chapel Hill police arrested and charged Jeffrey Sparrow, 24, of West Franklin Street, at 10:45 a.m. on two misdemeanor counts of order of arrest.

Reports state that Sparrow was arrested on an order for arrest issued after he failed to appear in court on Oct. 30 for marijuana possession, financial card theft, financial card fraud and felony probation violation.

Sparrow was confined to the Orange County Jail on a $500 unsecured bond and was scheduled to appear Monday in the Orange County Superior Court in Hillsborough, reports state.
