Tar Heels Top Eagles, Win Winthrop Classic

The win came a day after UNC defeated Howard 117-57. The Tar Heels improved to 5-1 on the season.

North Carolina senior guard Nikki Teasley was named Most Valuable Player of the event, joining Sutton and junior guard Coretta Brown on the five-member All-Tournament Team.

UNC returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Kentucky for a 6:30 p.m. game at Carmichael Auditorium.

Volleyball Falls at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The North Carolina volleyball team finished its regular season Saturday afternoon with a

1-3 (32-30, 29-31, 22-30, 25-30) loss to No. 23 South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

The Tar Heels (23-8, 12-4 ACC) were led by Nicole Reis with 21 kills. Eve Rackham led the Tar Heels in assists with 57, while Molly Pyles had 15 digs.

The Tar Heels earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with their ACC Tournament title last weekend and will find out at 3 p.m. Monday where they will play.
