Upset-Minded Tar Heels Shine at ITA Tourney

Marlene Mejia, Julie Rotondi, Kate Pinchbeck and Aniela Mojzis, UNC's top four players, all won their singles matches in straight sets to close out the Tar Heels' last match at the tournament.

The win was North Carolina's second against a ranked team in the tournament after UNC defeated ninth-ranked Fresno State on Thursday. The Tar Heels lost to No. 2 Duke on Friday. UNC finished the tournament at 2-1.

Jackson, Leitch Selected in MLS Draft

Former North Carolina men's soccer player Danny Jackson was chosen by the Colorado Rapids with the 16th pick in the MLS draft on Sunday. Teammate and fellow defender Chris Leitch was drafted 47th by the Columbus Crew. The duo played in every minute of each NCAA tournament game on the Tar Heels' run to the national championship.

Softball Starts Season in Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The North Carolina softball team finished play at the Gator Classic on Sunday morning with a 4-3 loss to South Florida in the tournament's consolation game. The Tar Heels (1-4) beat Florida International 3-2 on Saturday.

Men's Tennis Pounds West Virginia

The North Carolina men's tennis team swept all six singles matches in straight sets Saturday afternoon in defeating West Virginia 7-0 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels (3-1) didn't lose more than three games in any set.
