Screen on the Green
Tonight is the last night you can grab a blanket and some friends and head for the quad between Davis Library and Coker Arboretum to watch a free, funny film. The college satire "PCU" is showing at 9 p.m. but be sure to get there early to claim the best patch of grass and some free cotton candy.

Baroque music
Think Bach, Handel or Vivaldi. The same stuff that some scientists claim will enhance the IQs of babies provides the perfect not-too-quiet, not-too-loud soundtrack for those upcoming study sessions.

Dancing on furniture
It's so unsupervised-teen-in-an-80's-flick, but it's so fun, especially if you're shamelessly blaring that CD you're too embarrassed to admit you own. And while you're getting out that pent-up spastic energy caused by exam cramming, do your mom a favor -- take off your shoes.

Calling an old friend
You know, the one from high school you meant to keep in touch with but haven't talked to in at least a year. You'll be amazed at how much has changed -- and at how much the two of you still have in common.

"The Bastard," John Jakes
Historical fiction novelist/genius John Jakes reminds us why it's good to belong to a nation of immigrants in this story of patriotism, ambition, sex, murder and revenge. Set against the backdrop of the budding American Revolution, the book is the first in the Kent Chronicles, an 8-book series that weaves the tale of a thoroughly dysfunctional family through major events in American history.
