Testo Suspended for Weekend Tournament

Testo will not travel with the Tar Heels this weekend when they journey to Providence, R.I., to take part in the adidas/Brown Classic.

At a minimum, Testo will miss this weekend's games against Yale and Brown. His status for future games will be determined at a later date.

Ramsey Named Co-Player of the Week

GREENSBORO -- North Carolina junior forward Alyssa Ramsey was named ACC Co-Player of the Week in women's soccer after leading the Tar Heels to a 2-0 record this past weekend.

Ramsey guided the Tar Heels past Guilford College and Washington in the Nike/Carolina Classic, improving No. 1 UNC's record to 3-0-1 this season.

Against Guilford, Ramsey scored two goals and added two assists for a total of six points in the game. In the Washington game, the Cornelius native scored one goal and added one assist in the victory.

Ramsey leads the Tar Heels in scoring with four goals and three assists. She will lead UNC into action on the road this weekend as the Tar Heels play eighth-ranked Texas A&M on Friday and No. 4 Texas on Sunday at Meyer Park in Houston as part of the Houston Challenge Cup.

Men's Golf Finishes 3rd at Tourney

ST. ANDREWS, SCOTLAND - The North Carolina men's golf team finished third at the International Collegiate tournament after posting a three-round score of 870 last weekend.

In Sunday's third round, the Tar Heels shot a six-over-par 294, which left them in sole possession of third place and nine strokes behind Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons finished at four-under-par 860 to win the team title.

The 11-team field consisted of six teams from the United States and five from England.

North Carolina junior Dustin Bray captured the individual championship after shooting his second back-to-back round of 68 for a three-day total of eight-under-par 208.

Senior Ramon Bescansa finished tied for third at three-under-par 213. Senior Jeremy Elliott posted a final round score of 76, leaving him tied for 20th, while seniors Bob Cherry and Brad Moldin finished tied for 23rd and 34th, respectively.

The golf team will next compete in The Ridges Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, Tenn., on September 14-15.

Volleyball Earns National Ranking

The North Carolina volleyball team is ranked No. 20 in the nation, according to the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Coaches Poll released Monday. This is the Tar Heels' highest poll ranking since the poll began in 1981. UNC improved its record to 6-0 this weekend after victories against San Diego and Montana.
