"Lo and behold, he's been re-examined and there has been discussion about there being a possibility that he could play this week," Bunting said at his weekly press conference. "He threw some passes yesterday with our trainers. ... We will, once again, try and get him to throw some passes today to see how he feels, see how that is."
Since Durant broke his thumb in a game against Virginia on Oct. 19, UNC has lost five straight games.
Bunting hasn't made a final decision on who will start against the Blue Devils, but did say redshirt freshman Matt Baker would not.
"I would say that Matt has been eliminated from that consideration because of the fact that there's a possibility of Darian playing right now," Bunting said. "That's right now, that can change after today. But one thing is for certain; we believe that C.J. will be the starter in this game against Duke. That is what our belief is, but that's based on that Darian has not done anything yet."
