Dance Marathon forms to be submitted by midnight

TO THE EDITOR:

Seven years ago, a group of dedicated students at this university started an organization to unite the entire campus and surrounding community.

Now as the largest student-run fund-raiser on campus, the UNC Dance Marathon has become a strong Carolina tradition.

Each year, hundreds of students pledge to stand on their feet for 24 hours as a symbolic gesture of support for the families and children of the N.C. Children's Hospital.

Each year, hundreds of N.C. families are helped by the money raised by these students.

The marathon has raised more than a half-million dollars in the past seven years - all of which has directly benefited patients in the hospital.

This year, I encourage each of you to join this proud Carolina tradition by applying to dance.

Dancers are not required to dance for 24 hours - they are only asked to stand as a demonstration of support for the physicians, nurses, parents and children in the hospital.

Please apply online today at http://www.uncmarathon.org. Applications are due today at midnight.
