TO THE EDITOR:
I am writing in response to the letter in Monday's paper about the ineffectiveness of the ticket distribution system. In response to the alleged lack of communication by the Carolina Athletic Association, I ask if the individual has visited the CAA Web site (http://www.unc.edu/caa).
The Web site specifically states "... there are typically 4,000-6,000 student tickets handed out, maybe less depending on mini season ticket packages." The CAA has no way of finding out the exact number of tickets available. On Saturday, we went through almost 2,000 bracelets, meaning that we distributed somewhere close to 4,000 tickets.
Also, the members do receive tickets - they receive two tickets per game for the eight hours or more per week that they put into working the five weeks of distribution. The members are not out there just to receive tickets - they actually put forth an effort and work hard to ensure a successful distribution. Regardless, anyone is welcome to apply and is encouraged to do so. They will then witness first-hand the effectiveness of our system.Stuart Heffner
