The Daily Tar Heel

With the regular season quickly coming to a close and March just around the bend" it's the perfect time to reflect on what North Carolina has accomplished this season. It also provides the opporunity to address a few of the Tar Heels' shortcomings that must be fixed if UNC hopes to cut down those Alamodome nets April 7.

Be it a game-winning 3-pointer hit at Clemson or two beat-downs of a certain Raleigh rival" UNC fans have had plenty to cheer.

But this season also has seen an injury to the Tar Heels' star point guard and two disappointing losses at the Smith Center.

The format of the breakdown is as follows: the opening-night starting five (plus Quentin Thomas) the bench and overall play. Each section contains one plus and one minus which represent areas of on-court excellence and the few weak sports a No. 3 26-2 squad might have.

Because of the continuing uncertainty surrounding sophomore Ty Lawson's left ankle we felt Thomas deserved his own section separate from the bench.
