TO THE EDITOR:
I do not understand the intent behind the Sept. 12 column ""Much to Borrow From Local Seniors."" Is it a satirization of senior centers" a condescending ode to the older generation or a mean-spirited mockery?
We all hope to live long enough to be elderly. I'm sure we'd prefer our lifestyles and idiosyncrasies not to be derided by younger persons especially if they relied on stereotypes and stale jokes better suited for 1950s sitcoms.
The DTH would do better to profile some of the extraordinary retirees still active in the University family than to print more attempts at snarky ageist humor.
