Diversions' Halloween article was rude sexist

TO THE EDITOR:

When I opened Thursday's Diversions section I was anticipating excellent suggestions for a Halloween party. Instead I found a page full of offensive and ridiculous remarks" like the suggestion for a group to dress up as a mob of sexual predators. The authors managed to correctly identify the Duke Lacrosse Team costume idea as ""old"" yet they fail to mention offensive.""

Or let's look at the whole section of rampant sexism entitled ""Top 5 Professions to turn into a ‘slutty' costume."" The authors managed to convey to women they're expected to show skin while simultaneously insulting them with name-calling.

It's quite a feat to convey this double standard in a mere nine words. Congratulations" DTH on another year of sexist drivel disguised as harmless Halloween fun.
