Lowell Dyer started his first game this year at center. But he really wants to know which of his roommates is taping ?The Hills? at home.

Center Lowell Dyer started his first game of the year in UNC's 38-12 victory against Connecticut on Oct. 4.

Dyer chatted with Assistant Sports Editor Daniel Price on Tuesday afternoon about The Hills BBQ and marine life — sort of.

Daniel Price: When did you find out you were going to start against UConn?

Lowell Dyer: I found out the Monday beforehand. Coach called me in and told me I was going to start and that he was going to talk to Aaron (Stahl). And so I guess I found out then and I was able to prepare at that point.

DP: What was it like in your first start of the season to get that 100-yard back?

LD: I mean it was really exciting. He was able to break a big run or a couple big runs. So that was exciting.

DP: Changing gears a bit what about you would surprise people that don't know you the most?

LD: Probably that I'm an English major because of that whole football player-English major thing.

DP: What made you want to be an English major?

LD: I had this professor sophomore year fall semester that got me interested in it.

DP: What do you do with any down time you get?

LD: I like to relax a lot. Watch TV play Guitar Hero Rock Band.

DP: What level?

LD: Expert" only guitar.

DP: What was the last song you listened to on your iPod/CD player?

LD: It's usually ""Give It Away."" I haven't listened to my iPod since pregame. It's usually Give It Away by the (Red Hot) Chili Peppers"" but I think this week it was ""Enter Sandman.""

DP: Is there any TV show you hate to admit you watch?

LD: Not really. Somebody in our apartment watches ""The Hills."" I think it's on during" like Monday Night Football" and they record it. And every time it comes up — that and wrestling. But nobody has fessed up. So we don't know who it is.

DP: What is the funniest nickname of a member of this team that the general public doesn't know?

LD: We have some pretty good ones on the offensive line. The funniest would be — we call (sophomore guard Morgan Randall) ""Fish."" It's funny because nobody knows where it came from. One day somebody just started calling him ""Fish."" … But you gotta say it like"" ""Fishfishfishfishfish"" like it's fading out. But it's just funny because it's so random.

DP: Do you have a nickname?

LD: Some people call me Lowellski or Loweller. They used to call me German"" but they don't really call me that anymore.

DP: Time for the ""Lightening Round."" Eastern- or Western-style BBQ?

LD: Eastern.

DP: : Corso or Herbstreit?

LD: Herbstreit.

DP: Tupac or Biggie?

LD: Tupac.

DP: Sarah Palin or Tina Fey as Sarah Palin?

LD: Oh" Sarah Palin.

DP: Mac or PC?

LD: I have a PC but I'll probably get a Mac after graduation.
