W. Basketball: Tar Heels out of tournament

9:55 p.m. MONDAY March 23 -- The third-seeded North Carolina women's basketball game lost an 85-70 match-up to Big Ten runner-up Purdue on Monday the Tar Heels' first loss to Purdue in four tries between the two teams.

UNC failed to reach the regional semifinals for the first time in five years with the loss.

Italee Lucas was UNC's leading scorer with 21 and Jessica Breland added 10 boards. But the Tar Heels shot worse than 37 percent from the field and the Boilermakers better than 57 percent.
