The Daily Tar Heel

Women's soccer 0-0 at the half against Notre Dame

North Carolina and Notre Dame have played a very even first half match in their NCAA Semifinal match in College Station, Texas. At halftime, the score is 0-0.

UNC has outshot the Irish 12 to four. Casey Nogueira leads the team with four shots, with one of them on goal. Tobin Heath has had her one shot hit the crossbar in the 21st minute of the match.

The Tar Heels also own the advantage in corner kicks at 3-2. Notre Dame and the Tar Heels are both playing polished soccer, which should be expected with their similar 21-3-1 records. The Irish are getting more open-field opportunities while the Heels are winning nearly everything in the air. Notre Dame has two team saves and two saves by goalie Nikki Weiss. Ashlyn Harris has racked up one save for UNC so far.

It's 8:30 here at Texas A&M at halftime. The game is running a little late due to the UCLA-Stanford game stretching to overtime. Stanford won 2-1 and remained perfect on the season and await the winner of this match in the title game on Sunday at noon, central time.
