What report should I file?

-Honor Court
File through the Office of the Dean of Students. Though Honor Court hearings are closed to the public, your identity will not be concealed during the hearing.

-Police Report
File through the appropriate police department. Your identity will not be concealed and police typically will conduct an investigation.

-Blind Report
File through the Dean of Students or Chapel Hill Police. Neither organization will investigate unless they receive your approval. DPS must investigate all reports, but will keep your identity sealed from the public during an investigation.

Should I press charges?

It’s important for victims of sexual violence to come forward, even those who wish to remain anonymous. More information means better preventative measures can be taken.

And it’s as simple as mailing an anonymous form to the Dean of Students or making a phone call to your respective police department.

Whatever level of involvement you wish to have, you are always in control of your information.

And most importantly, you decide if you want to press charges.

Campaigns and programs such as the new consent campaign being launched at UNC rely on input and reports from students. So don’t be afraid to speak. You can help put a stop to sexual violence in Chapel Hill.
