Police log for March 16, 2010

Somebody pried open a window to enter a residence and stole nearly $1,500 in items between 9:01 p.m. Saturday and 10:34 a.m. Sunday at 316 McMasters St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. Items stolen include a $340 Wii game system, a $50 jewelry box, $1,000 worth of jewelry, some of it designer, and $57 in cash, reports state.

Someone caused a disturbance in the middle of an intersection at 9 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Curtis Road and Clayton Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Somebody tore open the rear window of a car and stole a briefcase and tax forms between 2:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. Monday from the men’s homeless shelter at 100 Rosemary St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The briefcase was worth $25, and damage to the window was estimated at $300, reports state.

Somebody damaged a windowpane worth $125 at 6:47 p.m. Sunday at 218 Ransom St., according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Somebody stole an iPod Shuffle and $2,000 cash between 9:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. March 2 from 708 Meadowmont Lane, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Two men were arrested on Saturday for communicating threats over the phone, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Michael James Walsh, 46, and Charles Ray Trueblood, 49, were each taken to the Orange County jail in lieu of a $250 bond.

A dog attacked and bit a 54-year-old Chapel Hill man between 1:30 a.m. and 6:55 a.m. Sunday at 742 S. Merritt Mill Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.The dog caused severe lacerations, reports state.

A student at McDougle Elementary School took a 2.5-inch knife to class at 9 a.m. Friday, according to Carrboro police reports. The knife was kept as evidence, reports state.
