Police log for March, 18, 2010

A 38-year-old Chapel Hill woman was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon at 10:38 p.m. Tuesday after she threw a meat cleaver at someone, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Ling Fang, of 1911 Ephesus Church Road, was arrested at her home and released by the magistrate on a written promise to appear in court, reports state.

Someone broke a window of a silver 2005 Hyundai Elantra between 8:15 p.m. Monday and 7:15 a.m. Tuesday at 5639 Old Chapel Hill Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole a purse worth $10, a GPS worth $100, a military ID worth $20, jewelry worth $250, a gift card worth $25 and $25 in cash. The person also took two checkbooks, credit and debit cards and a driver’s license, reports state.

Someone stole a banner owned by the town between noon Friday and 1:44 p.m. Tuesday at 403 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The 3 feet by 8 foot banner was worth $150, reports state.

Someone climbed onto a balcony and made threats between 3:50 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. Tuesday at 800 Pritchard Avenue, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

A 20-year-old Carrboro man was arrested for possession of 0.3 grams of cocaine and other charges at 11:47 p.m. Monday at Estes Drive Extension and Umstead Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.
Carlos Aaron Rangel-Grimaldo was taken to the Orange County Jail on $1,600 secured bond, reports state.

An animal was reported running at large at 2:55 p.m Tuesday at 201 Westbrook Drive, according to Carrboro police reports.
