State schools better
Thumbs up
Employers favor big state schools over the Ivies when recruiting for jobs. Let’s recount: we’re better at sports, less expensive, more fun, better looking and now about to be better employed.
CAA policy vote
Thumbs up
Finally, a ticket policy idea that may actually satisfy the student body. After a year of complaints, we can choose our own. Thank God we don’t have to deal with the Young Democrats to register to vote for it.
Petey Pablo
Thumbs down
The rapper of “C’mon and raise up” fame was arrested — on 9/11 — for trying to board an airplane with a gun. The platinum rapper may have been trying to fight crime at 30,000 feet, but he’s still an idiot.
Blocking Facebook
Thumbs down
For a week at Harrisburg University, they blocked Facebook, AIM, MySpace and Twitter. How are two people supposed to get in touch after meeting? Nobody has actually followed up with a call after getting a number since the ‘90s.
Obama’s new book
Neutral thumb
After “Dreams of my Father” and “The Audacity of Hope” comes … a children’s book about American pioneers.
Apparently, the average reading age for Obama’s books has tracked his approval ratings.
Left out of debate
Thumbs down
The Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate wasn’t invited to participate in a debate. Even with less than 10 percent support in polls, it would still be entertaining to watch him question defense spending and quote “1984.”
