The NCAA denied Kendric Burney and Deunta Williams’ appeals, according to University spokesman Kevin Best.
The senior defensive backs were sanctioned last week for receiving improper benefits and were ordered to sit out six and four games, respectively. They were also required to pay back some of the benefits they received to a charity of their choice.
“I am disappointed for Deunta and Kendric, but I respect the NCAA’s decision,” athletic director Dick Baddour said. “I appreciate the committee allowing us the opportunity to present their case”
The denied appeal means Williams must sit out Saturday’s game against East Carolina before he can return to the field. Burney can’t play until the Oct. 23 Miami game.
