Police log for October 6, 2010

—Someone stole a $10 license plate from a white 1997 Ford Taurus between 11:42 a.m. Sunday and 11:42 a.m. Monday at 1250 Ephesus Church Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

—Someone attempted to pay with counterfeit money at Chipotle Mexican Grill at 301 W. Franklin St. between 3 p.m. and 3:51 p.m. Sunday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

—Someone entered an unlocked 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe and stole a $15 wallet between 11:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Monday at 1702 Michaux Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Items stolen from the wallet totalled $1,124 and included two credit cards, a N.C. driver’s license, two checks and $250 in cash, reports state.

—Someone reported at 10:46 a.m. Monday that a student was in possession of property that belonged to Culbreth Middle School at 225 Culbreth Road on Sept. 10, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

The $200 iPod, which was stolen Sept. 10, was recovered, reports state.

—Someone attempted to break into a home by prying open the ground floor window between noon Sept. 23 and 10:00 a.m. Saturday at 229 Ashley Forest Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Damage to the window totaled $270, reports state.

—Someone threw a flower pot at the rear entrance of Uniquities at 452 W. Franklin St. between 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Damage to the building was valued at $300, reports state.

—A 40-year-old Chapel Hill man turned himself in at 12:29 p.m. Monday at the Chapel Hill Police Department for a warrant on a charge of misdemeanor larceny, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

James Forest Troutner III was released on a written promise to appear in court, reports state.
