North Carolina is 30 minutes away from winning its first game in Charlottesville, Va., in 14 tries.
Up 27-10 at the half, North Carolina has lived off a newfound T.J. Yates-Dwight Jones connection. The two have hooked up six times for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Yates has thrown for a total of 249 yards and three touchdowns while sporting a 75 percent completion percentage.
The Tar Heels’ offense has been electric from the start of the game. UNC’s first play from scrimmage was an 81-yard pass to Dwight Jones for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, North Carolina held Virginia to 10 points and 192 total yards in the first half. UNC linebacker Zach Brown and defensive lineman Tim Jackson intercepted passes in the first half to help stymie the Cavalier attack.
