The eight founding members of a secret society called Infinity made an $888.88 cash donation to the Eve Carson Scholarship.

“We’ve never had a donation from a secret society like this,” said Chase Pickering, who is in charge of external donations for the scholarship. “We do get some anonymous donations here and there, but usually they’re from an individual donor.”

The envelope of cash was delivered to The Daily Tar Heel, and following instructions from the secret society, it was taken on Wednesday to the UNC Development Office on Franklin Street.

There, it was counted and designated for the Eve Carson Scholarship, which honors the UNC student body president who was killed during her term in 2008.

The recipients of the Eve Carson Scholarship will be selected on Sunday.
