UNC students honored three faculty members, six teaching assistants and one staff member at the Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony April 12.
The recipients were chosen by a student selection committee for teaching excellence and service to undergraduate students, and the awards were presented by outgoing Student Body President Hogan Medlin.

Faculty members Alain J. Aguilar, Theodore Leinbaugh and Eunice Sahle won the 2011 Student Undergraduate Teaching Awards and will receive $5,000 each. All teach in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The graduate student teaching assistant winners, who received $1,000 each, included Neal Viradia, Elizabeth Johnson Darden, Jason Robert Combs, Tyler David Jones, Michael K. Muraya and Forrest Spence.

University staff member John David Mendoza Brodeur was honored for service to students with a 2011 Student Undergraduate Staff Award, and also received $1,000.
At the ceremony, students were also honored for excellence in academics, leadership and service.
