One man was arrested and another fled early this morning after an armed robbery at Morrison Residence Hall, according to campus police reports.
Luther O. Allison, 24, of Hillsborough, was charged with armed robbery, assault by pointed gun and resisting arrest, said DPS spokesman Randy Young.
Young said police found no evidence of a weapon on Luther at the time of the arrest.
Officers could not confirm whether the other suspect, 26-year old Michael DeAngelo Williamson, had a gun as he fled on foot, Young said.
“My understanding is warrants have been sworn for that gentleman’s arrest,” said Randy Young, spokesman for DPS.
Young said that Alert Carolina did not notify the campus of the incident via text or siren because the officer could not confirm that the suspect was armed. Alert Carolina posted a summary of the incident on its website.
In reaction to the incident, residence hall officials posted signs asking students to lock their suites and not allow strangers into the residence hall.
Young said the two men were acquainted with students who allowed them into the residence hall. Young could not comment on the nature of the acquaintance between the suspects and the residents, saying it was under investigation.
“The situation last night was not specific to that warning because it was people who were acquainted with each other,” he said. “The suspects were allowed into the residence hall.”
