Pedestrian struck at the corner of Rosemary Street and Pickard Lane

Injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening

A female pedestrian was hit by a black SUV at about 6:40 p.m. near the Rosemary Street side of the Pi Beta Phi sorority house, according to Chapel Hill police.

One of the officers at the scene, Sgt.Josh Mecimore, said he did not know the woman’s name or condition or whether she was affiliated with the sorority.

The sorority’s president, Natalie Boyles, said she could not comment on any details, including whether the woman was affiliated with the sorority, because of national rules for her sorority against speaking with the press.

The pedestrian was strapped to a stretcher and taken away from the scene in an ambulance, but Mecimore said her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
