New Greek government receives vote of confidence

ATHENS (MCT) — Greece’s new coalition government, headed by former European Central Bank member Lucas Papademos, won a confidence vote in parliament with a comfortable majority on Wednesday.

Papademos has been given a three-month mandate to fulfill the obligations of the debt-ridden nation under a bailout program financed by the European Union and International Monetary Fund, as well as to speed up long-term reforms.
