UNC researchers just published a study that shows birds in eastern North America have started migrating earlier due to a rise in temperatures.
Assistant professor of biology Allen Hurlbert, along with a team of researchers, analyzed 18 bird species and their migration journeys since 2002.
The report was published in PLoS ONE journal on Wednesday, in which Hurlbert explained the negative effects of early migrating on birds.
Former student Zhongfei Liang co-authored the study.
