The North Carolina Women’s Hospital has received international recognition after being named a Baby-Friendly birth facility.
Baby-Friendly USA Inc. is the U.S. authority for the global program Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.
UNICEF and the World Health Organization sponsor BFHI, which recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that meet criteria for optimal care. The designation is given after on-site evaluation.
There are more than 20,000 Baby-Friendly centers worldwide. Of those, 134 are in the United States.
