Meet the Heels set for Aug. 4

UNC hosted its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 14 at Kenan Stadium.

The gates at Kenan Stadium will open up to the public again at 3 p.m. on Aug. 4 for the Meet the Heels festivities.

Fans will be able to meet members of the North Carolina football team and receive autographs.

The defensive players and specialists will be available for autographs from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. while the offensive players will be available from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Fedora will be available during both sessions.

Several of those Tar Heels have been selected to pre-season award watch lists including offensive guard Jonathan Cooper, offensive tackle James Hurst and defensive tackle Sylvester Williams as they were named to the Outland Award watch list.

The Outland Award goes to the nation’s best interior lineman.

Quarterback Bryn Renner and running back Giovani Bernard were both named to the Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award is giving to the nation’s most outstanding player.

Linebacker Kevin Reddick has been named to both the Bednarik Award watch list as well as the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, both awards recognize the nation’s best defensive player.

At Meet the Heels, inflatable games and other activities for kids of all ages will be set up in the east endzone until 6 p.m. There will be free trading cards, posters and schedules while supplies last.

Fans should enter gates 2, 5, 6 or through the Blue Zone gates to avoid areas that will be restricted before 4 p.m. due to other football operations.

Concessions and restrooms will be open on the north side of the stadium.
