Ann Penn to leave the University after 7 years

Outgoing Chancellor Holden Thorp announced in a campus-wide email June 26 that Ann Penn, the director of the University’s Equal Opportunity/ADA Office, will be leaving the University August 1.

Penn has been at the University since 2006 and has led the implementation of UNC’s non-discrimination policies and the policy on prohibited harassment and discrimination.

“Ann has worked tirelessly to strengthen and implement Carolina’s policies in these areas, and we appreciate her dedicated service,” Thorp said in the email.

Penn also appointed the members of the Sexual Assault Task Force that has been charged with reviewing the University’s policies and procedures surrounding sexual assault. That task force, which has been meeting throughout the summer, planned to deliver its recommendations to Penn.

Thorp said Chancellor-elect Carol Folt will appoint an interim director once she begins her tenure on July 1.
