East Franklin Street closed after early morning vehicle collision, power lines down

East Franklin Street is closed after an early morning vehicle collision left power lines in the roadway, according to a Wednesday morning press release from the Chapel Hill Police Department.

A power pole was knocked down during the collision, causing power outages in the immediate area, according to the press release. Both the east and west bound lanes of East Franklin Street have been closed from Boundary Street to Estes Drive.

Utility crews are working to restore power, but the street will not reopen until sometime this afternoon, the release states.
