Update, 5 p.m. Friday: Dey Hall and Wilson Library will both open when normal operations resume, according to an Alert Carolina message sent out this afternoon. Until further notice, however, the University is still operating under Condition 2. 


Update, 4:45 p.m. Friday: UNC sent out an Alert Carolina message today noting that the campus will remain under Condition 2 until further notice.

Also, Carolina Dining Services tweeted that Rams Head Dining Hall will be open until 8 p.m. today.


Update, 11:50 a.m. Friday: Here is an updated list of closures: 

  • The Student Union is closed all day today — all meetings and events are canceled. 
  • Top of Lenoir will close at 3 p.m. 
  • Rams Head Dining Hall and Starbucks are open. Rams will close at 2 p.m.
  • Campus Recreation facilities are closed.
  • UNC Libraries are closed.
  • Bowles Drive and Blyth Drive are both closed due to hazardous conditions.

Update, 7:45 p.m. Thursday: Rams Head Dining Hall and Lenoir Dining Hall will open at 9 a.m. Friday.


Classes are cancelled all day Friday, according to an Alert Carolina message from 5:18 p.m.

The University will go into Condition 1 at 11 p.m. tonight and then go into Condition 2 at 3 a.m. Friday. Classes will continue to be held as normal throughout this evening, but operations will be reduced. There will be no classes held tomorrow. Mandatory employees must report to work unless otherwise notified.
