Update, 11:02 p.m.: Police have left the scene at LUX, a watch commander confirmed at 11 p.m.

Two individuals were involved in an altercation, and one man reached for his pocket in a way that made the other feel threatened, the watch commander said. The second individual texted his friends to tell them about the encounter and the message began to spread.

Police searched all floors of LUX and didn't find anything, police confirmed.

LUX management sent an all clear email to residents at 10:45 p.m.

LUX management told residents that they have reason to believe a blonde male might be armed and dangerous on site, according to an email from management to residents at 10:15 p.m.

The email described the man as 6'1, wearing a light blue shirt with dark pants.

A watch commander with the Chapel Hill Police confirmed that police are looking into a potential situation at LUX, but had no more details at the time.

More information will come as available.
