UNC: Armed robbery at Ehringhaus Residence Hall around 12:40 a.m., all clear at 2 a.m.

2:02: The all clear sirens went off around 2 a.m. after an armed robbery took place at 12:40 a.m. More information from the DTH later today.


1:42: No one was injured in the robbery that took place around 12:40 a.m. today, UNC Department of Public Safety spokesperson Randy Young confirmed.


1:27 a.m.: The University confirmed an armed robbery occurred around 12:40 a.m. today near Ehringhaus Residence Hall.

A male UNC student was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect, who the victim reported as roughly 5'10" in height, around 20 to 25 years old and wearing a Dallas Cowboys jacket and a ski mask, fled in the direction of Ridge Road on foot.

The threat is not yet over. Listen for the sirens.


1:06 a.m.: Chapel Hill Police confirm that the UNC Department of Public Safety is investigating some type of robbery. The watch commander had no more information at this time.


Warning sirens began going off around 12:50 a.m. today, and an Alert Carolina bulletin posted at 12:53 a.m. states that an armed and dangerous person has been reported on or near campus.
