Moon cycles: cycling to safer spaces

Ryann Giorgi, one of the founders of Moon Cycles, talks about why she started the group and how she hopes to empower women and gender nonconforming people.

“Moon Cycles is a safe space for women or gender nonconforming people who want to be with other like-minded folks, who want to learn more about bikes,” Ryann Giorgi said.

The bike collaboration meets on the first and third Monday of every month at the ReCYCLEry in Carrboro and gives women the opportunity to get assistance working on their bikes for no cost. It was founded in November 2014 by Giorgi, Victoria Petermann, Jolie Day and Hannah Tobin and is exclusively open to women and gender nonconforming people.
