We asked students how they celebrate big games

Nothing brings together Tar Heels better than watching our sports teams dominate. Whether it’s basketball, football, soccer or volleyball, students love to celebrate a Carolina sports win, and it’s no surprise that one of students’ favorite places to celebrate is on Franklin Street. 

“I feel like if it’s a big win, I like rushing Franklin Street," Elizabeth Ray, sophomore peace, war and defense major from Atlanta, Georgia, said. "Sometimes just going out and partying is fun.”  

First-year Maggie Cochrane had similar notions. 

“My favorite way to celebrate a Carolina win is probably to storm Franklin," she said. "I just kinda go run out and see what everyone else is doing because there is always something fun going on."

“For any regular Carolina game, I like to get together with friends and cheer and sing the fight song and everyone is wearing their Carolina gear and it’s just a fun time."

“Normally me and my friends will get a big group together and we will go down to Franklin Street and hang out there. We normally go to Sup Dogs, and then we will go back to someone’s place to hang out.”

“We go to Franklin and eat. I’ll go with my boyfriend and his big group of guy friends, and we go eat and hang out.”
