The town of Hillsborough is advising that a portion of customers near U.S. 70 boil all water for human consumption due to a construction accident Wednesday..
Areas along or north of U.S. 70 may have experienced low pressure or water outages around noon Wednesday after a water line broke.
Low water pressure increases the likelihood that bacteria could be introduced to the water system. The boil water advisory is a precaution. Bacteriological tests should be received by 3 p.m. Thursday and the town will notify customers when the advisory is rescinded.
Customers in affected areas are advised to boil water or use bottled water.
