Word on the Street: Who do you think deserves a Grammy this year?

The Grammy Awards, music’s biggest night, is happening Jan. 28, and many people can’t wait to see their favorite celebrities. The top Grammy-nominees include Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino, with performances by Cardi B, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Sam Smith and Rihanna.

Staff writer Amani Reed asked UNC students, “Who do you think deserves a Grammy this year?”

Biology major 

“I think SZA deserves a Grammy. No one really knew who she was before, but her album really popped out this past year. I liked it.”

“I think that Benjamin Clementine deserves a Grammy. He probably isn’t a nominee, but he’s a really good British artist, and I think more people should check out his work.”

“I think that the Avett Brothers deserve a Grammy, even though they probably aren’t nominated. They should be nominated in the future because they make great music.”

“I think any diva singer, like Beyoncé or Adele, always deserve a Grammy. I also think that Kendrick Lamar deserves a Grammy. His music videos are always great, and he makes amazing music.”
