Need a dog? Need a brew? Wanna watch a movie? The Chapel Hill/Durham area has got you covered. Use our list of events for all ages to plan your weekend and take part in all our area has to offer.

  • June 9 - Pimento Cheese Festival - I doubt that I have to do a lot of describing on this one. It sounds amazing on principle and includes local brews to go along with your southern staple samples. (Town of Cary)
  • June 9 - Juneteenth at Stagville - This all-day event includes food and activities celebrating the Emancipation of slaves during the Civil War. Enjoy educational storytelling and performances while recognizing this important holiday. (Historic Stagville)
  • June 9 - Merit Pit Bull Adoption Event - I am biased on this one because my dog is part pit bull, but please come check out these lovable dogs and maybe take one home. Bonus: There's beer! (Beer Study)
  • June 9 - Summer Kickoff at Kessing Outdoor Pool - Beat the heat with a day of pool games and pizza at UNC's outdoor pool. Now that the rain has finally stopped, I know we could all use a break from these hot summer days. (Kessing Outdoor Pool)

  • June 9 - Books Among Friends Book Sale - Face paint! Prizes! Books! Come enjoy Durham County Library's family-friendly event to kick off a summer of reading. (Northgate Mall)
  • June 9 - Pints and Paws - More dogs to adopt and more beers to drink! Ten percent of the proceeds go to Orange County Animal Services. Who knows? You may walk away with a furry friend depending on how many brews you drink. (Vecino Brewing Co.)
  • June 9 - Movies by Starlite: "Grease" - It's the 40th anniversary of this classic teen romance. Sock-hop into the night with your summer love to celebrate the famous film. (The Lumina Theater)
  • June 9 - Art & Food Truck Market - In case the Durham Farmer's Market isn't enough, swing by this culture extravaganza for some sweet eats and visual treats. (Art Market at Vega Metals)
  • June 10 - Jazz Brunch - Nothing says relaxing afternoon like eating omelettes with saxophones in the background. Best of it, the jazz is free. (Weaver Street Market)

Attendees of the Carrboro Open Streets Festival toss pizza dough into the air among many other recreational activities on Weaver St. on Sunday, April 8, 2018.

  • June 10 - Lavender Harvest Celebration - Okay, I'm sorry, but this just seems like a beautiful way to spend a Sunday. Bring some friends and enjoy a fun country road trip perfect for the summer. (Sunshine Lavender Farm)
  • June 10 - Summer Movie Series - In case you hadn't gotten your fill of beer and movies from the events above, Ponysaurus Brewing offers you another opportunity for some chillaxing on a patio with a good movie. (Ponysaurus Brewing)
  • June 10 - Free Film - Nasher Museum of Art is giving you ANOTHER movie option, but this one is on them. Enjoy The Secret Life of Pets with admission to the museum. (Nasher Museum of Art)
  • June 10 - Sunday FUNday - Cap off a fun weekend with a lawn party. Enjoy local bands and compete with friends in lawn games such as giant Jenga, croquet and frat boy favorite: cornhole. (Midtown Park)
