While students were enjoying time away from school during the University's fall break, North Carolina student-athletes did not have that same leisure.

Led by the No. 3 women's soccer team clinching its first outright ACC regular season title since 2010, Tar Heel programs were on full display this past weekend. Here's what you missed:

Women's Soccer

After defeating Boston College, 1-0, on Thursday in Cary, Anson Dorrance's squad needed a win on Sunday against a struggling Miami squad to clinch the regular season championship.

The Tar Heels used a 36-shot performance to silence the Hurricanes. Thanks in large part to sophomore forward Sydney Spruill, the Tar Heels edged its opponent, 2-0.

Men's Soccer

Following an unbeaten streak that stretched nine games, the No. 5 men's soccer team fell to N.C. State on Oct. 12, the Tar Heels looked to bounce back against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Two goals in the last 10 minutes carried UNC past the Golden Eagles, 2-0, on Friday.

Volleyball

Riding a five-game losing streak into Friday's match at Syracuse, the UNC volleyball team looked to turn its season around. Unfortunately, Joe Sagula's squad was unable to do so, falling to the Orange in straight sets.

On Sunday, the losing skid reached seven consecutive matches as the Tar Heels fell in straight sets at Boston College to drop to 1-9 in ACC play.

Field Hockey

On Sunday, the No. 1 team in the nation celebrated Senior Day by sending off six players, including 2017 First-Team All-America defender Ashley Hoffman.

The coronation turned into an all-day affair, as the Tar Heels outlasted rival Duke, 5-2, in Chapel Hill.

Football

In UNC football's first matchup with Syracuse since the Orange joined the ACC, Larry Fedora's squad looked to be on the verge of its second victory of 2018 late in the fourth quarter on Saturday, holding a 7-point edge with less than two minutes left.

A late Orange touchdown tied the game before head coach Dino Babers' squad won in double overtime, marking the second consecutive contest where UNC fumbled a late fourth quarter lead and lost. Here are the three takeaways from Saturday's performance.

Men's Basketball

On Saturday, the men's basketball squad headed to Philadelphia to engage in a practice scrimmage against Villanova.

After two 20-minute periods and one 10-minute period, the Wildcats emerged with a 114-104 win. Read more about how the Tar Heels performed here:

In the team's first competition of the season, UNC women's rowing finished sixth in the Club Eights event at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday.

Coxswain Sofia Triana guided fellow juniors Melanie Hussey, Bridget Tarnowski, Abby Hudspeth and Sally Stanley, seniors Elizabeth Farley, Paige Colpo and Maria Marroquin and sophomore Lauren Ferner to a successful finish.

Last season, the Tar Heels finished 18th in the same event.
