Chapel Hill Police investigating reported sexual assault at Shortbread parking deck

Chapel Hill Police are searching for information regarding a reported sexual assault that occurred early Friday morning in the Shortbread Lofts parking deck on 333 W. Rosemary St., according to an Alert Carolina email distributed Friday afternoon. 

The message asked for help identifying a suspect connected with the incident. According to police, the suspect was described as a Black male wearing dark clothing and standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall. 

The assault reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. 

Anyone who has information about the incident or could help identify the suspect may call the police department between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 919-968-2760, or dial 911 at any time of day. 

Those with information about the incident may also call Crime Stoppers at any time at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, the message said, and callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
