Police respond to shooting 1500 block of Mason Farm Road

Update April 11 at 11:50 a.m.: According to a campus wide email sent April 11, the suspect from the April 2 shooting on Mason Farm Road has been arrested.

The Chapel Hill Police Department and UNC Police Department responded to a shooting on the 1500 block of Mason Farm Road today at approximately 2 p.m., according to an Alert Carolina. 

There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the rest of the campus community. 

A victim that is not affiliated with the University was found with a gunshot wound and the shooting appears to be targeted, according to police. A suspect has been identified by law enforcement but not yet apprehended.

The property where the shooting occurred is not on the main part of campus, but is owned by UNC and is leased through a real estate company.

Mason Farm Road is currently closed between Fordham Boulevard and Oteys Road.
