Ackland Museum throwing ticket party for the Andy Warhol Silver Party Gala

Canvas is jumping at the bit.

The Ackland Art Museum has been really winning this term, with a quartet of fantastic exhibits recently opened in its galleries just off the intersection of Franklin and Columbia Streets.

And the museum will keep on winning in November, with its lavish fund-raising gala based on Andy Warhol’s legendary Silver Party.

Museum officials say that the party — a multi-part affair including dinner in the galleries, drinks at Top of the Hill, on-site portrait painting, screen tests and a performance by Chapel Hill favorites The Love Language, among other highlights — is meant to be the first of what might become an annual bash to raise funds for the museum in a alternative fashion.

Canvas is jonesing to go, but tickets are pretty steep — it was $500 for the complete package (which is already sold-out.)

The Ackland is helping out by offering tickets to the after party in its special ticket sale pre-party tonight at Top of the Hill’s Back Bar. The party tonight starts at 5 and goes until 7, and will offer $50 tickets for the after party, to be held in Back Bar on Nov. 6 from 10:30 p.m. until 2 a.m.

Allison Portnow, Ackland Events and Programs Coordinator, tells Canvas that tickets are selling fast, so if you want to go and party like Warhol, you should probably go to the sale tonight.
