Wednesday Roundup (6/15 to 6/22): The All Jazzed Up Edition

UNC Summer Jazz Workshop
Polk Place and Kenan Music Building
Monday thru Thursday, 7 p.m.

Summer jazz is at a premium next week with the start of the Summer Jazz Workshop which features a concert every evening. The opening night concert will take place on the steps in Polk Place, as the band plays on the steps of Wilson Library. Monday will see the Jim Ketch/Will Campbell quintet play with a guest appearance by Chancellor Holden Thorp on bass. The concerts will move into the Kenan Music Building for the remainder of the week.

Kimowan Metchewais
Greenbridge Building, 601 E. Rosemary St.
Friday, Saturday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Greenbridge will hold an exhibit featuring former UNC professor Kimowan Metchewais. The Native American artist deals in works ranging from paintings to photography work. The reception nights will take place through the weekend. The exhibit will run until August 6th.

Gallery and Exhibits (10 a.m. – 8 pm Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Sunday)

Adding to the Mix I: John Wesley’s Boeing (1982) is the museum’s latest exhibition that focuses on the recently acquired work in Boeing (1982). It is part of an informal series that is set to place recent museum acquisitions within the context of pieces that are already a part of the Ackland’s collection.
