Toddlers EP Release Show

Local melancholic pop act Toddlers are celebrating the release of their new 19 EP with a gig at Kings in downtown Raleigh. The band captivates with its forlorn soundscapes and ethereal instrumentation. Savage Knights and Black Zinfandel share the bill.

Oulipo
Slim’s, Raleigh

Young upstarts Oulipo play a spastic brand of rhythmic indie pop. Put on your dancing shoes and get there early as the first 50 people in attendance will receive a cassette featuring exclusive tracks from Oulipo and newcomers Body Games, who are also on the bill. Durham-based Juan Huevos will open the show.

Johnny Staxx and the Durty Boyz
The Cave, Chapel Hill

Johnny Staxx and the Durty Boyz is a blues-rock band made up of Johnny Staxx, Crack Daddy Slim and Fast Freddy Fantastic. The band plays with a rough rock ‘n’ roll sound and frequent bluesy harmonica outbursts, likening it to musicians such as Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters. The band will play with Honeychile at The Cave.

Ken Stringfellow

In the Seattle-based music scene, Ken Stringfellow co-founded the ‘90s band the Posies with Jon Auer. Stringfellow later joined the band Big Star and also played with R.E.M. Stringfellow released his fourth solo album Danzig in the Moonlight in October 2012 that includes a wide range of styles such as pop, country, R&B and electronic. The band Spooky Woods is also playing with Stringfellow Tuesday night.
