Movie Review: Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2

???1/2

With a lot at steak, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” was in rare form as it was so well-done; at least for an animated sequel. The film will drive audiences bananas as it strings them along with a nutty plot line.

The movie continues to follow the life of inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader) and the aftermath of the damage done by his machine that created super-sized food from water. Lockwood, with a team of his most trusted friends, sets out to resolve the pickle that he got the world into.

To get the approval of his childhood hero, Chester V (Will Forte) and remove his fellow citizens from a jam, he devotes himself to turn off the machine that has taken root on an island inhabited by living food creatures. It becomes a very sticky situation for the group, who quickly learn they’re not as rock-candy hard as they thought.

The voices chosen for the film are perfect. Their lines include the perfect amount of humor and give the perfect scoop on an animated film that you will be laughing at until the end of the credits.

Although at times a bit cheesy and slightly corny, “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2” is worth seeing, if anything, just to have a fruitful experience with friends and family.
