DTH at a Glance: Go sports, go Heels!

Today is the first day of the ACC tournament, but men’s basketball isn’t the only sport to pay attention to right now. (And if you’re having issues accessing our site, fear not — we know, and we’re working on it.) Check out what else is happening at UNC (and Elon) below:

QUICK HITS

  • Late last year, the Washington Post reported sexual assault allegations against Charlie Rose, a member of the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame. UNC’s School of Media and Journalism will keep him in the hall — but not without publicizing what he may have done.
  • COLUMN: The ACC tournament starts today, and UNC fans will be eager to beat Syracuse after Saturday’s loss to Duke. But the real question is if the Tar Heels can go on to win the tournament.
  • We’re bringing you professional-quality Oscar takes straight out of Chapel Hill in a Q&A with UNC professor and screenwriter Dana Coen.

S P O R T S !

  • UNC’s men’s tennis team lost to the Texas Longhorns 4-3 in its first outdoor match of the season. Distractions ranging from loud Longhorns to wind, cold temperatures and low UNC attendance may have contributed to the defeat.
  • Coach Joe Breschi led UNC’s men’s lacrosse to his 200th win as coach this Saturday. For two decades he has stressed family, academics and lacrosse to his teams — in that order.
  • UNC’s wrestling team is looking strong heading into this year’s NCAA Championship, with seven out of nine wrestlers qualifying as the team earned medals in three weight classes in the ACC Championship.
