No longer an elusive dream

In their first three seasons on the North Carolina women's tennis team, Ashley Dai and her fellow seniors compiled an impressive resume while amassing 116 wins. But they had always fallen short in the ACC Tournament.

That changed this weekend, though, as the Tar Heels downed Miami 4-2 in Sunday's title game.

'The rain began to fall'

After the North Carolina men's tennis team swept Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals, the Tar Heels looked to be on their way to an easy victory over Virginia in the semifinals.

But after a lengthy rain delay, UNC's lost its momentum and ultimately the match.

'Quite the ride'

The North Carolina men's lacrosse team has experienced highs and lows this season, just like the Fury 325 roller coaster at Carowinds that Coach Joe Breschi rode this summer. 

A loss to unranked Hofstra in February and a disappointing defeat against Syracuse on April 16 marked the Tar Heels' lows. But the team has now climbed to a season-high mark after beating No. 1 Notre Dame 17-15 on Saturday.

'It's crunch time'

Entering Saturday's match against Duke, the North Carolina women's lacrosse team hadn't proven to Coach Jenny Levy what type of team it was.

But with a 16-8 victory over the Blue Devils, the Tar Heels' seniors provided an answer. They're goal-oriented.

Looking ahead

  • The North Carolina softball plays the third and final game of its three-game series against Notre Dame at 7 p.m. on Monday at Anderson Softball Stadium.
  • The North Carolina baseball team plays UNC-Wilmington at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Boshamer Stadium.
  • The North Carolina softball team plays Campbell at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Anderson Softball Stadium.
  • The North Carolina baseball team plays Campbell at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Boshamer Stadium.
  • The North Carolina women's lacrosse team faces Virginia Tech at noon on Thursday in the ACC Championship quarterfinals in Blacksburg, Va.
