N.C. State leads UNC at half

RALEIGH — N.C. State leads North Carolina 34-26 at the half.

Sloppy play plagued UNC throughout the opening 20 minutes.

The Tar Heels ended the half with a shot clock violation, a foul and a turnover right before time expired.

N.C. State surged ahead by using a 15-4 run late in the half led by BeeJay Anya’s eight points and three rebounds.

UNC struggled offensively, shooting only 38.5 percent from the floor while the Wolfpack shot 44.7 percent.

UNC’s primary offensive threats James Michael McAdoo, Marcus Paige and Leslie McDonald shot a combined 2-for-14 from the court in the first half.

J.P. Tokoto leads UNC with eight points.

UNC turned the ball over 11 times and N.C. State translated those miscues into 11 points.

T.J. Warren leads all scorers with 10 points.
