For UNC, the half was punctuated by a steal, breakaway, spin move and dunk by sophomore forward J.P. Tokoto, which gave the Tar Heels a 37-30 lead with 3:42 to play.

Providence point guard Bryce Cotton, the Friars' leading scorer with 21.4 points per game, leads all scorers with 13 points. James Michael McAdoo and Kennedy Meeks both have eight points to pace the Tar Heels.

UNC is out-rebounding the Friars 20-14, with a 9-3 advantage on the offensive boards.
